Listen to Liam Gallagher’s new track “For What It’s Worth”
Former Oasis frontman has released the third single off his upcoming album As You Are. In regards to the instrumentation, “For What It’s Worth” is the closest thing to Oasis that Liam has released off his upcoming solo debut. The almost hypnotic instrumentation that builds into the chorus is an Oasis trademark and sounds very similar to “Live Forever”. The lyrics may be the most interesting part of this single. It seems as if Liam is trying to make amends with the longtime feud he has with his brother, Noel. The chorus booms with “For what it's worth I'm sorry for the hurt/I'll be the first to say, ‘I made my own mistakes’”. The lyrics are quite exquisite as Gallagher uses vivid imagery of war to describe his relationship with his brother. With recent tweets, it’s surprising to see Liam making any amends whatsoever and this leads me to question the authenticity of this song. It is as if he is taking advantage of his feud with his brother just to make a buck. This is evident as Gallagher has released a lyrical companion video with the song. Putting such an emphasis on the lyrics leads me to believe this is little more than a money grab. Regardless I am still excited for what the Oasis frontman has in store.
